Overview
This short descriptive study tested three salt samples taken at salt fields in Losarang District, Indramayu, where salt is made by solar evaporation with thread-filter and geomembrane technology. A commercial laboratory measured lead, cadmium, mercury and arsenic by AAS. All results were below the printed reporting values and below the Indonesian iodized salt standard SNI 3556-2016.
Key numbers
- All three samples: cadmium <0.008 mg/kg, lead <0.041 mg/kg, mercury <0.0002 mg/kg, arsenic <0.001 mg/kg (Table 4.1, p. 42).
- SNI 3556-2016 limits quoted: cadmium 0.5, lead 10.0, mercury 0.1, arsenic 0.1 mg/kg (Table 2.1, p. 41).
Methods (brief)
Samples were taken with a spear sampler following SNI 19-0428-1998 and analysed by AAS at PT. Sucofindo Cirebon. Digestion, detection limits and quality control are not described.
Evidence Fitness
Only three samples, all non-detects, with no QA or LOD definition, and no DOI printed on the PDF (the manifest DOI was not confirmed from the paper). The salt is raw field salt, not packaged iodized salt, so it is a proxy for iodized-salt and that page is not linked.
