Analysis of a Wild Leafy Vegetable (Premna latifolia Roxb.) Samples for Essential Trace Elements using ICP - MS Technique

Premna latifolia leaves collected in three Andhra Pradesh villages had different reported elemental concentrations.

Premna latifolia leaves collected in three Andhra Pradesh villages had different reported elemental concentrations. Village-specific values are preserved as local leafy-vegetable evidence; the paper supplies no replicate counts or uncertainty estimates.

Methods (brief)

Leaves collected directly from fields, washed twice with distilled water, shade-dried, then 0.5 g digested with nitric acid and hydrogen peroxide. Digests made to 50 mL and analyzed by ICP-MS. No LOD, recovery, reference material or dispersion is reported. Leaf dry-material basis follows sample preparation; no fresh-weight conversion is supplied.

Implications

Supports geographic variation in six elements in a specific wild edible leaf. It does not establish nutritional adequacy, safety, or a regional market distribution. The source’s characterization of aluminium as an essential nutrient is not adopted.

Evidence Fitness: EF-2 for village-level occurrence values with limited sampling and QA metadata. Regional/sample and basis qualifiers must accompany any later reuse.

Verification notes

The PDF footer establishes February 2024, volume 12(2), and paperID SE 24205180530. DOI is absent from the PDF; the manifest DOI was independently matched to the same title/byline/year through Crossref on 2026-09-10 (https://api.crossref.org/works/10.70729/se24205180530). First-author family name Narayana Murthy follows the publisher-deposited Crossref record. Existing broad leafy-vegetables ingredient retains species identity in the groups; no nutrient/safety claim inferred.

The preserved Library PDF is identified by RPHMI_11; SHA-256 46ca7eb504ad49d8db02ac448d2d3413058ec883bb76cc1b27bc4e1c7c7bfb6c. The byline, year and publication were verified in the PDF. DOI provenance and any publication-date differences are described above. Original access location: https://www.ijser.in/archives/v12i2/SE24205180530.pdf. Source-specific numeric observations, context dispositions, row-fit decisions and remaining gaps are preserved in the structured evidence record. No source value was converted across product, soil, water or experimental matrices during ingest.
