Minnesota Statutes section 325E.3892 prohibits covered consumer products containing lead above 0.009 percent by total weight or cadmium above 0.0075 percent by total weight. Covered products include jewelry, toys, cosmetics and personal care products, cookware and food containers, children’s art supplies, costumes, clothing, and accessories. The current 2025 text also contains a key-specific lead exception at 1.5 percent after July 1, 2028.
