Lu and colleagues combined 16S rRNA gene sequencing with mass-spectrometry metabolomics in C57BL/6 mice. The abstract states that arsenic significantly perturbed gut microbiome composition after exposure to 10 ppm arsenic for 4 weeks in drinking water, and that metabolomics profiling showed a concurrent effect, with gut-microflora-related metabolites perturbed in multiple biological compartments.
This page records that bibliographic identity and those abstract statements. It does not copy the metabolite inventory, and it does not set a food concentration or a certification limit.
Evidence fitness
Supports a mouse finding that drinking-water arsenic changes gut microbiome composition and related metabolites. Does not support a concentration of arsenic in any food.
