Summary
The Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee on Food Additives 82nd meeting prepared this monograph on arsenic published as WHO Food Additives Series 73. JECFA’s quantitative reference value framing for inorganic arsenic at this meeting confirmed the benchmark dose lower confidence limit framework rather than reinstating a PTWI. JECFA’s prior PTWI of 15 µg iAs/kg b.w./week was withdrawn at the 72nd meeting (2010) on the basis that inorganic arsenic causes cancer at exposures below the PTWI; subsequent JECFA work uses BMDL01 anchors for risk characterization rather than threshold-based PTWIs.

The five most recent substantive edits to this page, classified major (evidence or structure moved), correction (a published value or statement was wrong and has been fixed), or minor (narrative rewritten without changing the underlying evidence). Each description is derived from what the edit did to this page; the linked commit is the authoritative record, routine regeneration passes are excluded, and the full version history lives in git. When DOI minting comes online (see schema docs), each entry below will also link to a version-pinned DataCite DOI.
