The Fiji Food Safety Regulations 2009 establish contaminant controls under the Food Safety Act 2003. Regulation 29 adopts Codex Alimentarius contaminant limits generally unless Fiji law sets a different limit, while Regulation 30 and the Eleventh Schedule set Fiji-specific maximum permitted levels for selected chemical contaminants. The routeable heavy-metal limits cover arsenic in fats/oils and salt, cadmium in salt and fishery products, lead in fats/oils, salt, jam and jelly, infant formula, and fishery products, total mercury in fish and salt, tin in selected canned foods, and metal limits for packaged natural mineral water. Natural-mineral-water values are stated in mg/l; the other routeable limits are stated in mg/Kg.
