Directive (EU) 2020/2184 is the European Union’s current drinking-water directive for water intended for human consumption. Annex I Part B sets chemical parametric values for antimony, arsenic, cadmium, chromium, lead, mercury, nickel, uranium, and other non-HMI contaminants; Annex I Part C sets an aluminium indicator value. The directive requires Member States to set values no less stringent than the Annex I values, while preserving transitional dates for lead and chromium. It is a drinking-water instrument, not a food-contaminant maximum-level regulation.
