Preliminary Study of Microelements, Phenolics as well as Antioxidant Activity in Local, Homemade Wines from North-East Greece

These wines were produced for home use and were not officially marketable. They are homemade, not commercial. Table 2 splits red and white. Only the white column is used. The abstract prints 8 white and 16 red. Table 2 prints white n = 8 and red n = 18. The red conflict is not resolved. Recovery was 87.5% to 104%. Samples below the limit of detection were assigned 0 for statistics. That assigned zero is not entered here as a measured concentration.

Key numbers

Table 2 white column, mg/L, n = 8.

MetalMean ± SDMinimumMaximum
Arsenicbelow LODbelow LODbelow LOD
Cadmium0.002 ± 0.0000.0020.003
Lead0.025 ± 0.0060.0160.032
Chromium0.003 ± 0.002below LOD0.007
Nickel0.156 ± 0.1410.0610.486

Detection limits are printed in µg/L and are not converted: arsenic 4.2, cadmium 1.4, lead 2.7, chromium 0.9, nickel 2.8. Arsenic is total, not inorganic. Chromium is total, not hexavalent. Aluminum, mercury, and tin were not measured.

Methods (brief)

ICP-OES, axial view. Table 2 unit is mg/L.

Evidence fitness

The white column supports a homemade white-wine note. It does not support commercial wine, and it does not support a measured zero for below-LOD arsenic.

Limitations

Homemade only. Red n disagrees inside the paper. Detection limits and table units are different and are not converted.
