Heavy metal accumulation in Brussels sprouts after irrigation with treated municipal waste water

This is an irrigation field trial, not a market survey. Sprouts (the edible part) were analyzed separately from leaves. The table header is mg/g. The discussion calls the sprout lead figure mg/g dry matter. Control and treated municipal wastewater (TMWW) are kept separate. No quality-assurance recovery is printed for cadmium, nickel, or lead. Six replications are described.

Key numbers

Table 3 sprout columns, mg/g.

MetalControlTMWW
Cadmium0.801.17
Nickel5.706.17
Lead6.080.77

The discussion sentence that the average lead was 0.77 mg/g dry matter is the TMWW cell, not the control. Fresh-matter restatements are not used. Leaf columns are not sprouts.

Methods (brief)

Plant matter was dried, ground, and dry-ashed. The design compares control irrigation with treated municipal wastewater.

Evidence fitness

The sprout columns support a field-trial note. They do not support a market-basket concentration.

Limitations

Not market samples. Unit is mg/g as printed. No recovery for these metals.
