This Gazette notification is the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India’s 2016 third amendment to the 2011 Contaminants, Toxins and Residues regulations. It inserts additional maximum levels into regulation 2.1.1 for lead, arsenic, tin, cadmium, mercury, and chromium across produce, cereal grains, dairy, infant formula, natural mineral water, fishery products, canned foods, fats and oils, salt, and wine. The tables state most limits in parts per million by weight, with natural-mineral-water rows expressed in mg/L. The amendment comes into force on or after 1 January 2017. Arsenic, mercury, and chromium are not further speciated in the amendment text, so the structured rows record them as tAs, tHg, and Cr-total respectively.
