Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 sets substance restrictions for batteries in Annex I. The loaded rows cover mercury in batteries, cadmium in portable batteries, and lead in portable batteries. The values are expressed by the regulation as percent by weight of mercury, cadmium, or lead metal, and are converted to ug/kg for the register. The lead restriction applies from 18 August 2024, with a temporary exception for portable zinc-air button cells until 18 August 2028.
