Directive 2009/48/EC on the safety of toys, original Official Journal

This is the original Official Journal text of Directive 2009/48/EC of 18 June 2009 on the safety of toys, OJ L 170, 30 June 2009.

This is the original Official Journal text of Directive 2009/48/EC of 18 June 2009 on the safety of toys, OJ L 170, 30 June 2009. Annex II, Part III, point 13 sets migration limits for elements from toys or components of toys. Antimony is one line of that table.

Key numbers

Point 13 prints three column headings, in this order: mg/kg in dry, brittle, powder-like or pliable toy material; mg/kg in liquid or sticky toy material; mg/kg in scraped-off toy material. The antimony line prints 45, 11,3, and 560 (PDF p.27, OJ L 170/27). The comma in 11,3 is the printed decimal mark. Aluminium on the same original table prints 5 625, 1 406, and 70 000. Later amendments changed aluminium. They did not change the antimony line.

Methods (brief)

The file is the original OJ PDF. Migration is the basis named in the heading. The directive does not print a total-content limit for antimony in the toy material.

Evidence fitness

The page supports the three original migration limits for antimony, with the decimal comma kept. It does not support reading 11,3 as eleven thousand three. It does not support a diaper limit or a textile-fibre limit.

Limitations

Regulation (EU) 2025/2509 repeals this directive with effect from 1 August 2030. Until that date the directive remains the instrument in force. A consolidated text exists and is a separate file. The Publications Office states that consolidated texts are documentation tools and have no legal effect.
