China GB 2762-2025 — Maximum levels of contaminants in food

Edition and applicability

The National Health Commission and State Administration for Market Regulation issued GB 2762-2025 on 2 September 2025, with implementation from 2 September 2026. Its foreword replaces GB 2762-2022 and that edition’s first amendment. The standard applies its contaminant limits to the edible portion, subject to its specific food-category and preparation provisions. Honey lead limit

Section 4.1, Table 1, lists honey (蜂蜜) under other foods with a lead maximum of 0.5 mg/kg, equivalent to 500 µg/kg. The row is on printed page 4, PDF page 6. It concerns bee honey; references to honey mushrooms in the fungi categories concern a different food. GB 2762-2025: National Food Safety Standard — Maximum Levels of Contaminants in Foods

This selected entry does not establish honey limits for other analytes. Food-specific requirements must be checked in their own tables; a lead value cannot substitute for arsenic, cadmium or mercury requirements.

The superseded 2022 edition remains relevant to historical studies. The edition index distinguishes these instruments.
