This file is an author manuscript. Aluminium was measured after reconstitution according to the manufacturer instructions. The unit is µg l-1, written here as µg/L. It is not a powder concentration in mg/kg. Recovery was 96% to 104%. Detection limit 3.3 µg/L. Soya formula is a separate row and is not used for cow’s-milk formula.
Key numbers
Table 3, cow’s-milk-based types, µg/L.
| Type | n | Mean | Median ± SD | Range |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Preterm | 7 | 449 | 421 ± 137 | 317 to 726 |
| Starter, non-adapted | 4 | 237 | 231 ± 128 | 118 to 368 |
| Starter, adapted | 16 | 252 | 196 ± 152 | 68 to 573 |
| Follow-up | 19 | 292 | 272 ± 189 | 66 to 788 |
Specialised rows (without lactose, hypoallergenic, inborn errors) and the soya row are not copied onto the cow’s-milk page. The type-row counts in the full Table 3 sum to 82, while the methods also print powder n = 61 and ready-to-use n = 14. Both are printed.
Methods (brief)
Formula was reconstituted and aluminium was measured by atomic absorption. The detection limit is wet weight as printed for the formula matrix.
Evidence fitness
The four cow’s-milk rows support a reconstituted-formula aluminium note. They do not support a dry-powder mg/kg value or a soya value.
Limitations
Author manuscript. Specialised formulae are not treated as ordinary cow’s-milk formula. Sample-count statements disagree.
