Overview
Liu and colleagues review reported levels of four essential trace elements (iron, manganese, zinc, copper) and four toxic elements (cadmium, lead, mercury, arsenic) in nearly 400 wild edible mushroom species from 10 countries. They attribute variation mainly to species-specific accumulation and to environmental pollution and geochemistry.
Key numbers
- No primary measurements; tables (for example Table 7 for lead and Table 8 for cadmium) list values from other studies by species, method and country.
Methods (brief)
Narrative literature review; no sampling or analysis.
Evidence Fitness
Context only (tier C). Values are secondary quotes and are not extracted as findings. Useful as a pointer to primary studies on wild mushrooms; it does not measure soup and is not evidence for cream-of-mushroom-soup.
