Jakkielska and colleagues measured metals in 31 white wines and 22 red wines. The white group includes an apple ice wine (sample 3-B, made from apples). Figure 1 averages and ranges for aluminum, arsenic, cadmium, chromium, nickel, and lead are chart-only. Those bar heights are not copied. Recoveries were 96% to 104%.
Key numbers
One white-group mean is printed in prose: mercury 0.075 µg/L. The paper prints µg·L−1. Mercury is total by ICP-MS, not methylmercury. The abstract span 0.075 to 86403 µg/L is a cross-element span of means, not a result for one metal. Data gap: aluminum, arsenic, cadmium, chromium, nickel, and lead have no printed white-wine number in the main text.
Methods (brief)
Wine was diluted ten times and measured by ICP-MS. Numeric detection limits are in a supplement that is not in this file.
Evidence fitness
The mercury mean supports a white-group mercury note that includes the apple ice wine. It does not support the other metals from Figure 1.
Limitations
Most target metals are chart-only. The white group is not only grape wine.
