Overview
İlhan, Bayır and Aygün applied principal component and linear discriminant analysis to metal results for honey bees, bee pollen and honey from 20 colonies at four urban-fringe Konya sites in 2018. The sites, coordinates, colonies and ICP-AES method are those of the authors’ earlier study (Bayir and Aygun 2022), and the pooled Table 1 means equal the averages of that study’s L1 to L4 values. The record is kept as context; its numbers are not counted as independent findings.
Key numbers
- Pooled bee pollen means: cadmium 0.0105 ± 0.0005 mg/kg, lead 0.146 ± 0.0079 mg/kg (Table 1, mean ± SE).
- Pooled honey means: cadmium 0.0065 ± 0.0003 mg/kg, lead 0.113 ± 0.0046 mg/kg (Table 1).
- LDA assigned pollen and honey to their site with 100% accuracy and bees with 80% (Abstract).
Methods (brief)
Same sampling and analysis as Bayir and Aygun 2022: pollen trapped in May and June, dried and oven-dried at 70 °C; microwave digestion with nitric acid and hydrogen peroxide; ICP-AES; NIST SRM 1547 and blanks per run. Statistics by ANOVA, Duncan test, PCA and LDA in SPSS.
Evidence Fitness
The data are a re-analysis of the 2018 Konya colonies already reported per location in the Bayir and Aygun 2022 preprint, so the extraction disposition is context. The honey harvest window is printed as July 15 to 20, unlike the earlier 15 July to 15 August. No LODs or recoveries are reported.
