Overview
Hakeem and colleagues compiled lead, cadmium, zinc, copper and nickel results for chicken liver, meat and other organs from four earlier Pakistani studies (Karachi, Kohat, Lahore and Kasur) and compared them. The paper reports no new measurements.
Key numbers
- Tables 1 to 4 reproduce means from Khan et al. (Karachi), Ei-Salam et al. (Kohat), Mariam et al. 2004 (Lahore) and Imran et al. (Kasur); they are quotations, not new data (pp. 76-77).
- The review states lead was highest in the Lahore study and lowest in Karachi (Abstract).
Methods (brief)
Narrative review; the cited studies used AAS.
Evidence Fitness
Context only: every number is quoted from other papers, so no findings are recorded and the primary studies should be ingested directly. Chicken meat would in any case be a proxy for the chicken-broth page, which is not linked.
