Mass spectrometry imaging reveals uptake of the allergen methylisothiazolinone in ex vivo human skin

This paper maps the organic preservative 2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one in ex vivo human skin by time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry.

This paper maps the organic preservative 2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one in ex vivo human skin by time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry. It reports no metal concentrations. numbers is empty.

Key numbers

This source does not report a metal concentration or a metal limit.

Methods (brief)

MI (95 percent) was diluted to 0.0175 M, stated as equivalent to 0.2 percent w/v diagnostic patch testing, and 20 uL was applied to 11 mm skin biopsies. Donors were two women, both 42 years, abdominal skin, Fitzpatrick type 2.

Detection and reporting: not a metal assay; background ion at m/z 116.0 discussed but no metal LOD

Basis: applied solution on ex vivo skin

Evidence fitness

This source can support: localization of methylisothiazolinone in stratum corneum and viable epidermis.

It cannot support: any metal occurrence, absorption fraction, or metal regulatory limit.

Limitations

No Pb, Cd, As, Hg, Ni, Cr, Co, Sb, Zn, Al, Sn, or other metal concentrations are measured or established. An EU rinse-off limit of 0.0015 percent MI and an LLNA EC3 of 0.4 percent are organic-allergen figures, not metals, and were not entered as metal rows. Codex is noted in the task as having processed this paper locally.

  • No product or metal page is declared for this source. The batch report records the gap.
