This survey measured 30 elements in 61 honey samples from eight regions of Romania by ICP-MS. Gallium was analyzed and was not detected in any sample.
Key numbers
- Gallium (isotope 70) was not detected in any of the 61 honeys (table note).
- The footnote prints the quantification limit for that isotope as 0.04 µ/L. The same note says the unit of measure for gallium in the table is µg/kg. The paper does not convert one into the other.
- Regional counts in the methods: southeast 22, east 7, northeast 3, center 5, west 2, south 3, southwest 5, and a further southeast group of 14.
Methods (brief)
Honey was microwave digested and analyzed on a Thermo iCAP Q ICP-MS. Gallium was in the ultra-trace set.
Evidence fitness
Supports a non-detect for gallium in these 61 honeys. Does not support a honey concentration in µg/kg, because the printed quantification limit is not in that unit, and does not support intake or toxicity.
Limitations
One food and one country. The quantification-limit unit and the table unit are not the same, and the paper does not give the dilution that would connect them.
