Mechanism of Iron Ion Homeostasis in Intestinal Immunity and Gut Microbiota Remodeling

Bao and colleagues review iron homeostasis, intestinal immunity, and gut microbiota remodeling. The WikiBiome corpus note states that iron deficiency anemia reduced Bacillota abundance and increased Bacteroidota, Pseudomonadota, and Patescibacteria, and that iron-deficient women had lower fecal Lactobacillus.

Key numbers

The note does not print a sample size for that comparison. It also states that iron supplementation increased Enterobacteriaceae and decreased Lactobacillus in infants, and that iron fortification increased Bacteroidetes in African children.

Evidence fitness

The record supports a review finding about iron and gut microbiota composition. It does not support a concentration of iron in any food, and it does not state a limit.

Limitations

This page records the WikiBiome corpus note. It is not a new extraction from a local copy of the review. The DOI was checked against Crossref on 2026-10-15.
