Development of a New Sensitive Method for Lead Determination by Platinum-Coated Tungsten-Coil Hydride Generation Atomic Absorption Spectrometry

This analytical chemistry paper develops a method that traps gaseous lead hydride on a heated platinum-coated tungsten coil before atomic absorption measurement. The analyte is lead; tungsten is only the trap material. The method was checked with certified reference materials and applied to drinking water and fish.

Key numbers

This paper reports no numerical findings relevant to tungsten exposure.

Methods (brief)

Hydride generation with in situ preconcentration on an externally heated tungsten coil, compared with graphite furnace atomic absorption; accuracy checked with NIST SRM 1640a and DOLT-5.

Evidence fitness

Off-topic for dietary exposure to tungsten: the paper measures lead and does not support dietary exposure or toxicity claims for tungsten.

Limitations

No tungsten was measured in any sample.
