RDC No. 628/2022 consolidates Brazil’s list of coloring substances permitted in personal hygiene products, cosmetics, and perfumes. Article 5 sets maximum metal impurities for artificial organic colorants: barium as barium chloride 500 ppm, arsenic as As2O3 3 ppm, lead as Pb 20 ppm, and other heavy metals 100 ppm. HMI loads only the lead row because the arsenic value is expressed as arsenic trioxide rather than elemental arsenic and the other-heavy-metals row is a combined bucket.
